Clean Bandit 'Extraordinary' - Single review


We don't think even Clean Bandit expected their breakthrough track 'Rather Be' to become the monster hit it is; still rattling around heads and blaring out of car windows months after becoming one of the fastest-selling singles of 2014 so far. After years of pushing their unique blend towards the mainstream, the Cambridge four-piece finally hit their stride - but can their innovative formula of classical and dance infusion keep the momentum going?

Unfortunately, part of Clean Bandit's initial charm wears ever-so-slightly thin on their follow-up; the mix of operatic strings and piano riffs veering dangerously close to its chart-topping predecessor. "Something extraordinary, something real/To fill my days and nights with something that I can feel," newcomer Sharna Bass sings on the warm chorus, with its flourishing steel drums and hands-in-the-air claps. Lady Gaga: 'G.U.Y'
To make up for never getting a visual for one of her best songs, 'Do What U Want', Gaga has chucked three tracks into one epic music video. Naturally, the star plays the role of a phoenix stumbling out of the ashes to the soundtrack of ARTPOP, before posing with the ancient gods for a rendition of 'Venus' and 'G.U.Y.'
